Heave Compensation

Downtime during offshore operations, due to rough weather conditions, is a well known problem to many AHT & AHTS operators.

Loss of capital, and severe damages to customers durable and expensive equipment, is a nightmare for any operator. Excessive dynamic amplification of the load, can occur during lowering with the risk of overloading or even rupture of the hoisting cables.

Controlling heavy loads under severe circumstances, going safely to deeper locations, or accurately positioning of loads on the seabed is a major issue for many Offshore contractors.
Rexroth Hydraudyne developed, built and thoroughly tested the Modular Active Heave Compensation System (MAHCS), as a solution to all those problems.
Major advantages of the MAHCS implemented in a winch system

  • Significant reduced power consumption in compare with alternative AHC controlled winches.
  • Residual motion at depth 10 %
  • High level of accuracy
  • Easy integration in any existing winch system.
  • Containerized option enables multiple use within a fleet of similar vessels.
  • The principle of MAHCS is based on a closed force loop, and therefore requires relatively simple mechanical interface to the vessel structure.
  • Modular approach allows build-in flexibility with respect to the actual vessel arrangement.
